Exodus 20:3 — YOU SHALL HAVE NO OTHER GODS BESIDES ME

Exodus 20:3

KNEELING DOWN

This morning I saw somebody barefoot, in shorts and singlet hanging on to a waterhose literally kneeling beside his car and brushing it with the greatest vigour I have ever seen.

I was standing in the house looking through the window clothed with a jacket and long trousers and socks on my feet. And I felt even cold inside the house.

It is good for people to clean their cars.

However the thought came to my mind that we are so often bowing down and worshipping material things. We don’t really admit it and we don’t bow our knees literally.

But, —let us rather bow our knees before the Living God, who created the Heaven and the Earth.

C.H. Spurgeon is writing on May 19–Ecclesiastes 10:7

Ecclesiastes 10:7

A Devotional Book by C. H. Spurgeon is called: MORNING AND EVENING.

And this is what I read this morning, “Upstarts frequently usurp the highest places, while the truly great pine in obscurity.”

“When our Lord was upon the earth, although He is the prince of the kings of the earth, yet He walked in the footpath of weariness and service as the Servant of servants: what wonder is it if His followers, who are princes of the blood, should also be looked down upon as inferior and contemptible persons?”

I’ll Show you Tomorrow!

“And what are you doing with your time these days, young man?” ** was the question of the owner of the takeaway. “I’ll show you tomorrow,” I answered.

I was sitting in the shop of ‘Jokers Roasts’ in Kaitaia situated on Commerce Street and enjoying one of his famous roasts. They are almost as good as the roasts we have for our Christmas Dinners. And not expensive at all.

I go there to have one good meal a day when my wife is not here. At the present time she is in Auckland visiting her old mother who came out of hospital just the other day.

I also said,” I am so glad you asked that question.”

And tomorrow I am giving him some of my evangelistic writings when I go for another scrumptious meal of roast beef. Included in the evangelistic material is the Anzac Day flyer and the latest Gospel Tract I have written called: At the End of the Day.

** Our neighbour asked the same question. What a wonderful opportunity to give out literature and even talk to people.

“Contact Energy Limited”

Contact Energy Limited supplies us with electricity. Only the other day I noticed that Contact Energy has also a newsletter with the title ‘In Contact’.

A very interesting newsletter with lots of pictures and interesting articles. At Contact Energy they are also committed to building open and enduring relationships with customers. They want feedback and an email address is given.

I don’t need to elaborate on the importance of the supply of electricity-power- and the contact with “Contact Energy Ltd”. Contact Energy is a powerful source.

EVEN NOW I AM DEPENDENT ON CONTACT ENERGY!

But– especially here in the north of NZ, in Kaitaia, the power gets knocked out when there is heavy thunder and lightening.

That reminds us actually that there is a more powerful source than Contact Energy and that is the Living God, who created the Heaven and the Earth.

And how important it is to be connected to Him. Are you yet in contact with the Living God? You can be through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Our God is also committed to have an open and enduring relationship with us. His email is the Bible.

Do you have an enduring relationship with your Creator? And let me remind you again that you are a dependent being. You are dependent on GOD!
