“May God send us a deep, all consuming concern for the souls of our neighbours that shall rend our hearts, and bow our souls and make our lives a ceaseless flow of the sweetest, tenderest compassion….” – George Scott Railton

The Holy Spirit
[THE HOLY SPIRIT] IS NOT A MERE INFLUENCE,
passing over us like a wind,
or warming us like fire.
HE IS A PERSON,
seeking entrance into our hearts
that He may comfort us,
give us heavenly wisdom and
fit us for holy and
triumphant service.” –
Samuel Logan Brengle, Guest of the Soul
Pleasing God
“Two men please God – who serves Him with all his heart because he know Him; who seeks Him with all his heart because he knows Him not.” – Nikita Ivanovich Panin
Stress
“Stress is the trash of modern life – we all generate it, but if you don’t dispose of it properly, it will pile up and overtake your life.” – Danzae Pace
ARCHITECT OR MUDDLER?
ARCHITECT OR MUDDLER?
This morning I picked up again the book “Your preaching …… a force or a farce?” by John Deane. Chapter four is called “Architect or muddler?”
To remember what we are going to preach and hear – sermons – is so important, not only for the preacher, but especially for the hearer, the listener.
Sermons preached by an ARCHITECT – who has an effective arrangement – are easy to remember.
Sermons preached by a MUDDLER – who is quoting Bible verses from Genesis (first book of the Bible) to Revelation (last book of the Bible), if he is given enough time – are difficult to remember.
Muddlers need to read books on preaching, or even better, attend a Bible College, where they teach homiletics, the art of preaching or writing sermons.

“For I resolved to know
nothing while I was
with you except
Jesus Christ and him crucified.”

THE CHARGE AGAINST ISRAEL
Hosea 4:1-3
Intr.: This charge was probably made in 722 B. C. 2731 years ago! Has anything changed?
Hear the word of the Lord,
you Israelites,
because the Lord has a charge to bring against you who live in the land:
A. THERE IS NO:
1. faithfulness, no
2. love, no
3. acknowledgment of God in the land.
B. THERE IS ONLY:
1. cursing,
2. lying and
3. murder,
4. stealing and
5. adultery;
6. they break all bounds, and
7. bloodshed follows bloodshed.
End:
Because of this
1. the land mourns,
2. and all who live in it waste away;
3. the beasts of the field and
4. the birds of the air and
5. the fish of the sea are dying.

“Avoid Reading the News”
Avoid reading the news?
All of a sudden I was told by a person who knows all about it, that reading the newspaper has a bad effect on us: It is mostly bad news anyway. Once in a while we read a good story. Reading the paper is a good way to become insane. (What about the news on T.V. ?)
That reminded me of something. I have a sheet of paper here put out by Age Concern. The headline is “GETTING ON WITH GETTING OLDER.” It continues like this “What are the things that keep you positive? Some suggestions could include:………”
There are 33 suggestions and one of them is “Avoid reading the news.” I did not pay much attention to that suggestion. I am not a great reader of the paper anyway. And the thought came to my mind that we have to know a little bit about what is going on round about us.
But I like to read the Bible, the Word of the Living God. The Bible is full of GOOD NEWS! The Bible is full of promises.
As a young believer I used to go to a small church in Germany . Above the entrance of the Church building was written:
” Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28
What a promise. Are you weary? Are you burdened? Come to the Lord Jesus Christ! He will give you rest!
