Peace of Mind

“Greater peace of mind

That’s how a medical alarm is advertised in the July/August issue of the magazine “Family Health Diary.” One person I know very well and that person has a medical alarm. The medical alarm provides peace of mind not only for that person but also for the whole family of that person.

For me peace of mind is very important. I think for you too. That’s why we are reading about peace of mind quite a bit actually all over the place.

Now I am wondering how many people have read about peace of mind in the Bible. In the Bible we read about the greatest peace of mind. In Philippians 4:7 the Bible, the Word of the Living God, says, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

The peace of God will not only guard our minds, but also our hearts. And the peace of God transcends all our understanding.

When does all that happen to us?

I think it will happen to us when we are doing what the Bible says:

— Rejoice in the Lord always. (That seems to be very difficult for all of us. That’s why the apostle Paul repeats it in the same verse.)

— Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.

— Do not be anxious about anything,

— but in everything,

-by prayer and

-petition, with

-thanksgiving,

present your requests to God.

Philippians 4:4-6

About Photography:

“All photographs are there to remind us of what we forget. In this – as in other ways – they are the opposite of paintings. Paintings record what the painter remembers. Because each one of us forgets different things, a photo more than a painting may change its meaning according to who is looking at it.” – John Berger

Where are your Springs?

I wish, somebody would have told me the following long ago:

Spurgeon is saying this on July 16, EVENING (Morning and Evening- Daily Readings):

Three powerful sentences.

“A selfish man in trouble is exceedingly hard to comfort, because the springs of his comfort lie entirely within himself, and when he is sad all his springs are dry.

But a generous man, full of Christian philanthropy, has other springs from which to supply himself with comfort beside those which lie within.

He can go to his God first of all, and there find abundant help; and he can discover arguments for consolation in things relating to the world at large, to his country, and, above all, to the church.”

Where is God?

I read this anecdote in a German Book:

A mocker met a child. “What are you doing?” he asked. The child answered,” I am thinking about God.” The atheist took an apple out of his pocket,” I am going to give your this apple, if you tell me where God is.” The child took two apples out of his pocket, “I am going to give you these two apples, if you tell me where God not is.”

A clever child!

FREE!!

I read in a leaflet about WALKING “Whoever said the best things in life are free could easily have been a walker. Walking is fun, healthy and easy on your bank balance.”

Whoever said the best things in life are free could easily have been a believer.

I would also say the best things in life are free, or rather the best thing in life is free. The very best thing in life is SALVATION and SALVATION is FREE!

Romans 6:23

” For the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Ephesians 2:8

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the GIFT of God – “

“Healthy Homes” and a $45.00 Concession ticket

I really enjoyed the seminar called “Healthy Homes” today at the Union Church in Kaitaia. I learned a lot and I hope I remember what I learned. And I enjoyed it not only because I received a concession ticket for bus rides worth $45.00. I answered half a question correctly. ( On that concession ticket I can BusaboutKaitaia – Five return trips to Mangonui or five return trips to Pukenui.)

It was all about insulating homes, insulating the ceiling, the floor and the water heater. Good insulation of a home improves the physical health of the occupants, and saves also money.

The seminar ended with afternoon tea.

After the meeting I attended to some more of my business in town. While doing that I told two people I met about the $45.00 bus ticket. All of a sudden it hit me that I told about the bus ticket without hesitation. I rejoiced about it – it was good news.

But there is greater news. The greatest news is that the Lord Jesu Christ died for sinners. Am I also so eager to tell about this Greatest News as I am keen to tell about the winning of the bus ticket?

“HEALTHY HOMES!”

Of course, we want healthy homes. Who does not want a healthy home? But I think a home is really healthy, when all the occupants can say with all their hearts ” BUT AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSEHOLD, WE WILL SERVE THE LORD.” Joshua 24:15 Joshua said that. That is spiritual health!

I know a home in Kaikohe, where this Bible verse is hanging on the wall in one of the rooms.
