“In many respects I find an unresurrected Jesus easier to accept. Easter makes him dangerous. Because of Easter I have to listen to his extravagant claims and can no longer pick and chose from his sayings. Moreover, Easter means he must be loose out there somewhere.”
Philip Yancey
That is the name of a twitter page.
All of us should think more about ETERNITY I think!
I am looking at a flyer with beautiful pictures. I picked it up some time ago. In Auckland I think it was at Christmas.
The first picture with a description shows Tuscany in Italy, the second the Ritz in London.
But in a special way I am interested in the writing at the top of the leaflet, where is written “Escape Holidays”. Underneath it talkes about “getaways”, not ordinary “getaways”, but unique “getaways”. It says there “UK & Europe unique Getaways”.
A getaway is the act of escaping. Criminals are escaping! When I escape, I get away or I break free from a prison for example or from any other confinement. An escapee is an escaped prisoner.
But you know all that already.
There is a verse in the Bible, the Word of the Living God, that says “that we are all prisoners of sin”. Galatians 3:22 Read also First John 1:8
There is also an image of France on the flyer on the second page. That escape to France is rather expensive. It says there “4 nights from $2729pp*”. A very expensive “getaway”.
The problem is only that we are still a prisoner of sin when we are arriving in France. No matter where we are going, we are a prisoners of sin and we are remaining a prisoner of sin – until we receive God’s promise of freedom by believing in JESUS CHRIST.
“I CAN BEAR IT ALL, FOR JESUS SUFFERED, AND HE SUFFERS IN ME NOW; HE SYMPATHIZES WITH ME, AND THIS MAKES ME STRONG.”
One of the early martyrs
If you want to be refreshed, talk to people about the Lord!
Matthew 10:32,33; Acts 1:8
I did that today for a very long time. Maybe it was not quite two hours.
The man who started the conversation was a complete stranger …….
The Lord is leading us to the right places at the right time….. and he is refreshing us! Praise to His name!
Matthew 10:33
“BUT WHOEVER DISOWNS ME BEFORE MEN, I WILL DISOWN HIM BEFORE MY FATHER IN HEAVEN.”
