“Flourishing for everyBODY”

“Kia whitianga te ra, ka hihi, ka whakamana, te ha, te he, kia whai kikokiko, kia puawai te mauri.”

“Te sun arises with each new day; its rays beckon opportunity to all living things.”

That’s what is written on the postcard I picked up at the local Age Concern office here in Kaitaia. The card is published by the Mental Health Foundation. (The Mental Health Awareness Week was from 4-10 October 2010.)

“Flourishing for everyBODY

Feel good and function well”

On the postcard is also explained in more details what “Feeling good” and “functioning well” means.

The dictionary explains that to flourish is “to thrive; prosper; to be at the peak of condition; to be healthy: plants flourish in the light.” “The sun arises with each new day; its rays beckon opportunity to all living things.”

The Bible, the Word of the Living God, tells us about those natural  effects of the sun: causing the fruits of the earth to grow (Deuteronomy 33:14; Second Samuel 23:4).

In the book of  Psalms God himself is  said to be the sun. Read Psalm 84:11!

“For the Lord God is a sun……….

Does that not mean that He is the source of spiritual light and gladness?

God is the source of spiritual light and we cannot flourish without HIM!

“‘MAY YOU PROSPER GREATLY!

Intr.:

I issue a degree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reference the God of Daniel.

1. For he is the living God and

2. endures foerever;

3. his kingdom will not be destroyed,

4. his dominion will never end.

5. He rescues and he saves;

6. he performs signs and wonders

a. in the heavens and

b. on the earth.

7. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.’

End:

So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.”

“IT’S OFFICIAL: DROUGHT DECLARED”

Physical Droughts

We are reading about physical droughts in the paper:

The Northern Advocate: “Far North prepares for major drought”

The Northland Age: “Drought zone” and “Council acts early to prepare for another drought”

SPIRITUAL DROUGHTS

We are reading about spiritual droughts in the Bible, the Word of the Living God:

Psalm 63:1

O GOD,

Intr.:

you are my God,

1. earnestly I seek you;

2. my soul thirsts for you,

3. my body longs for you,

End:

in a dry and weary land where there is no water.”

Psalm 68:6

“God sets the lonely in families,

he leads forth the prisoners with singing;

but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.”

NO WATER FOR US THIS MORNING!

Water stopped flowing in our pipes this morning, but workers are busy just now to restore the damage done to the supply of water for our street.

It teaches me to be thankful for the daily water, and not only for the daily water, but also for the daily electricity.

But I am even more thankful for the  Living Water. The Living Water never stops flowing.

The Lord Jesus Christ speaks about the Living Water in John 4:10.

“Jesus answered her, ‘If you knew the GIFT of God and who it is that ask you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you Living Water.'”

Lots of talk about gifts at this Christmas time. Just now I am looking at an ad that  says “PROPER CHRISTMAS PRESENTS”.
