THE NORTHERN ADVOCATE is one of our local papers and with great joy I am reading that the “Thought for the day” Thursday, August 18, 2011 is from First Corinthians 13:4-8.
“‘BECAUSE THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN THESE WORDS, I WILL MAKE MY WORDS IN YOUR MOUTH A FIRE AND THESE PEOPLE THE WOOD IT CONSUMES.'”
Jeremiah 20:9
“But if I say, ‘I will not mention him or speak any more in his name,’ his word is in my heart like a FIRE, a FIRE shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.'”
Jeremiah 23:29
“‘Is not my word like a FIRE,’ declares the LORD,…….”
There is dross in my life.
What is dross? Dross is waste. Dross is matter that is worthless. Dross is scum. It is formed on the surfaces of molten metals. I am reading that in The Collins Concise Dictionary.
But when I hear the Word of God the dross in my life is consumed. Why? Because the BIBLE, the Word of the Living God, is a burning word!
They were not sitting very far from me, the man and the little child. The adult was obviously the father of the little boy.
Before they started their meal I noticed that the father sang a prayer.
On the way out I talked to the complete stranger and was not surprised to find another brother in Christ. The conversation revealed that he goes to a vibrant church here in Kaitaia.
