WAR CRY GIVEAWAY – 22 February 2014

To win a copy of SHOUTING INTO THE SILENCE, tell us someone who inspires you.

Ernest Klassen inspires me.

He used to be one of my teachers at Bible school.

"Mein Vater Ernie Klassen"

“Mein Vater Ernie Klassen”

I am inspired by those born again believers, who talk to others about what the Lord has done in their lives whenever they have an opportunity and whenever the Lord prompts them to do so. (Personal Evangelism)

Uncle Ernie, as we called Ernest Klassen, was such a man!

THE SILVER SPOON

After leaving school I trained in two coal mines in Germany (Ruhr District) to become a ‘Steiger’ (one who climbs). One mine was in the city called Herne and the other in Bottrop. I used to do that for almost eight years. All I can say is that I did not like it at all to be 800 meters under the earth.

THIS IS NOT A SILVER SPOON

THIS IS NOT A SILVER SPOON

At the moment I am reading the book 12 Sermons to Young People by C. H. Spurgeon.

In his sermon called THE BEST BURDEN FOR YOUNG SHOULDERS his text from the Bible is Lamentations 3:27, where it says, “It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is young.”

In that sermon he says, “The silver spoon in the mouth with which some people are born is very apt to choke them.”

When I read that I was thinking to myself that there are even parents who put a silver spoon into the mouths of their children and choke them. I would not go so far and say that they are doing that deliberately.

I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth and my mother was not able to put a silver spoon in my mouth either.

And some time ago, even before I read this sermon, I said that the best thing that could have ever happened to me when I was in my teens was to work for almost eight years in a coal mine.

The best training ever!

Inspiring Teachers

When I read the name of “New Zealand’s ‘Most Inspiring Teacher’ 2012,” in The Warehouse Limited Community Snapshot “You gave, they got,”  the name of the ‘Most Inspiring Teacher’ in my life came to my mind.

"NEW ZEALAND'S 'MOST INSPIRING TEACHER' 2012"

“NEW ZEALAND’S ‘MOST INSPIRING TEACHER’ 2012”

The ‘Most Inspiring Teacher’ in my life did not teach the subject PERSONAL EVANGELISM at Bible school, but he practiced it.

In Matthew 7:26 the Lord Jesus Christ says,

“But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.”

Let me just give you a definition of PERSONAL EVANGELISM (PE):

“Personal Evangelism is the personal, individual desire of a saved soul to lead another person to repentance, so that that person receives Jesus Christ as his or her personal Savior and then also becomes a winner of souls.”

The name of the ‘Most Inspiring Teacher’ in my life is Ernest Klassen and he is still all about to win people for the Lord Jesus Christ in his native Canada.

Birthdays

Once a year we celebrate our birthday. This is one of the cards I received for my birthday:

The Birthday Card

The Birthday Card

The card is from friends in Germany.

Here is the verse from the Bible in English:

“For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.” – Hebrews 13:14

“SET UP YOUR HOME”

“Set up your home,” says THE WAREHOUSE LTD mailer on several pages. (Issue 29 valid 12/2/14 to 18/2/14)

It surely is a challenge to set up a home, but it is even  a greater challenge to set up a Christian home.

"SET UP YOUR HOME"

“SET UP YOUR HOME”

What does a Christian home consist of?

A CHRISTIAN HOME CONSISTS OF A FATHER WHO FEARS THE LORD.

Where are the young men who have a living relationship with their creator, read the Bible, pray and are guided by the Lord? In the Bible these young men read in Second Corinthians 6:14: “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers.”

A CHRISTIAN HOME CONSISTS OF A MOTHER WHO FEARS THE LORD.

Where are the young women who are believers in the Lord Jesus Christ?

A CHRISTIAN HOME CONSISTS OF CHILDREN WHO FEAR THE LORD.

In Genesis chapter 22 ISAAC carried the wood and he did not murmur.

And who was obedient even in the middle of the night? It was SAMUEL.

In Luke 2:51 we are reading about JESUS as a child, and he was obedient to his father and his mother.

Who does not want to have a successful home?

Two things are necessary for a successful home, LOVE and the FAMILY ALTAR.

Where is the Lord Jesus Christ crowned as the Head of the Home? The answer is in the family altar.
