WHO CARES?

Other people and the LORD.

“Never share your problems with others. 20% don’t care, and the other 80% are glad that you have them,” I read yesterday in a magazine and I don’t think it was the first time that I read it.

And I don’t know how many times I have read in the Bible First Peter 5:7:

“Cast all your cares on him because he cares for you.”

“This is what the LORD says:

‘Cursed is the one who trusts in man,

who depends on flesh for his strength and

turns his heart away from the LORD.'”

HARD TIMES

AT THE BEACH

AT THE BEACH

What would you answer if someone would ask you, “What helps you most in hard times?”

Let me tell you what I have learned from people who have had hard times before me.

A king and an Apostle have taught me something.

THE KING

The name of the king is Jehoshaphat and he had to defend himself, because the Moabites, Ammonites and some of the Meunites came to fight him.

Jehoshaphat was the king of Judah and he did a number of things to deal with the situation, but what brought him the victory was singing and praising, singing and praising the Lord.

THE APOSTLE

Paul, the Apostle and his companion Silas were thrown into prison for preaching the Gospel in the city of Philippi.

What did they do in prison? What would you do?

Paul and Silas knew their God. They were praying. They were singing. Instead of sleeping they were singing at midnight.

What happened?

Not only the other prisoners were listening, but there was an earthquake; the doors of the prison flew open and the chains of the prisoners came loose.

Let us follow the examples of  King Jehoshaphat and the Apostle Paul and his companion Silas and praise the Lord.

You find the story of Jehoshaphat and the Apostle Paul in the Bible. (Second Chronicles chapter 20 and Acts chapter 16)

DISASTER

This was written on Wednesday, July 9, 2014

Yesterday in the morning in my reading of the Bible from cover to cover I came to Second Chronicles 7:21,22, where it says:

“‘Why has the LORD done such a thing to this land and to this temple?’

Second Chronicles 7:21,22

Intr.:

People will answer, “Because

1. they have forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers,

who brought them out of Egypt, and

2. have embraced other gods,

a. worshiping and

b. serving them –

End:

that is why he brought all this disaster on them.'”

When I read the portion of Scripture in the morning, I did not know that I would read it again later on the same day with a torch light.

Today we are reading about the disaster in the paper and hearing about the disaster over the radio.
