I don’t really want to tell you about the SUN IN THE EARTHLY SKY.
Sunset in Kaitaia
We cannot find anybody who does not know about the sun in the sky.
But let me just tell you very quickly, that we are today without sunshine. It is dreary, wet and cold, and the visitor we expected today is not coming, but waiting for a day with sunshine.
I want to tell you about the SUN IN MY SOUL.
Why?
Because not very many people know about the sun we can have in our soul.
“Sun of my soul, Thou Saviour dear, it is not night if Thou be near, …” is a hymn by John Keble.
Before becoming an Anglican minister, he was a professor of poetry at Oxford university.
In Psalm 84:11 it says, “For the LORD is a sun and a shield, …”
That’s exactly what it says on the advertisement standing on the foot path and I am reading the ad again (I saw it for the first time this morning), while I am on my way to the Post Office to pay our power bill. The postie brought the bill this morning.
There is only one thing you can do with bills and that is pay them, and that as soon as possible. I have done that so far in my life and hope to continue to do so.
The BIBLE says in Romans chapter thirteen verse eight:
“Let no debt remaining outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.”
Mother Teresa said: “LOVE is a fruit in season at all times, and within reach of every hand.”
No, thank you, I don’t need any help with overdue bills!
