THE CROSS

THE CROSS

“Now these things occurred as an example

First Corinthians 10:6-11

Intr.:

to keep us from setting  our hearts on evil things as they did.

1.  Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: ‘The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in pagan revelry.’

2.  We should not commit  sexual immorality, as some of them did – and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died.

3.  We should not test the Lord, as some of them did-and were killed by snakes.

4.  And do not grumble, as some of them did-and were killed by the destroying angel.

End:
These things happened to them as examples …

THE CROSS

THE CROSS

“For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact,

First Corinthians 10:1-5

Intr.:

brothers,

1.  that our forefathers were all under the cloud and

2.  that they all passed through the sea.

3.  They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.

4.  They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.

End:

Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered over the desert.

THE CROSS

THE CROSS

“Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone,

First Corinthians 9:19-23

Intr.:

to win as many as possible.

1.  To the Jews  I became like a Jew, to win the Jews.

2.  To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law.

3.  To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law.

4.  To the weak I became weak, to win the weak.

End:

I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.”

“A WORLD WITHOUT WORDS?”

“Can you imagine a world without words?” is the question on the LITERACY AOTEAROA  pamphlet, I picked up yesterday together with other material including books, at a stall in the old Pak’nSave carpark in Commerce Street here in Kaitaia.

"Far North Adult Literacy"

“Far North Adult Literacy”

Inside the pamphlet it says, “Literacy is reading, writing, listening, speaking and thinking. Literacy is communicating.”

I surely like to  read and to write. I read almost all the words, I come across, no matter where  they are.

There are many books in our home, and I like to spend time in libraries.

There is one special book in the world. Why is it special? Because the book is not written by a human, but by God the HOLY SPIRIT. That book is the Bible. The Bible is “The Word of God”.

In Hebrews 4:12 in the Bible we read:

“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double- edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

No, I cannot imagine a world without words, especially not without “the word of God”.
