PROMISES
All of us have read about promises somewhere.
Most of us have read about promises in the newspapers.
I have done so today in our local paper. Governments promising us a budget surplus. Governments promising us also that they would not introduce any new taxes.
But I don’t know how many of us have read the promises in the Bible, the Word of God.
I have read the BIBLE today. I don’t read the newspaper every day, but I have made it a habit to read the Bible every day. Here are some promises you find in the Scriptures:
1. God promises to help us when we need it. Hebrews 13:5,6
2. He promises to strengthen us when we feel weak. Isaiah 41:10
3. When we feel dejected, he promises to cheer us up. Matthew 14:27
4. He promises to guide us when we are confused. Psalm 32:8
5. He promises us power in the service for Him. Acts 1:4-8
And here are promises, prophecies, of Christ’s Second coming:
1. Foretold by the prophets. Daniel 7:13
2. Foretold by Jesus himself. Matthew 25:31
3. Foretold by the Apostle Paul. First Timothy 6:14
4. Foretold by angels. Acts 1:10,11
“Broken promises,” is the title of a column in our local newspaper today. (The Northland Age, Tuesday, May 26, 2015)
“The LORD is faithful to all his promises,” we read in the Bible in Psalm 145:13!
