WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES AND BIRTHDAYS

HOUHORA HEADS Mount Camel from Wagener Holiday Park

HOUHORA HEADS Mount Camel from Wagener Holiday Park after many hours of rain

On the programme we received when attending a 50th Wedding Anniversary over the last weekend, it was pointed out to us that MARRIAGE is more important than BIRTHDAYS.

What is marriage?

“‘Marriage is God’s idea and

His unique covenant.'”

“‘Marriage takes commitment, love, forgiveness and hard work.'”

What are birthday?

“‘All one does  to reach 70 is breathe.'”

“‘It [marriage] must be celebrated.'”

And that’s what we did.

BOOKS ARE A BLESSING

FINISHED READING TWO BOOKS.

The FIRST  book is called How to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie.

The book is a real page turner and hard to put down.

The SECOND book is called Hungry for God and is written by Ralph Martin

I learned a lot reading the book.

I bought both books second-hand!

THERE IS A MANUAL

A certain group of people were looking for a handbook that teaches us how to get along with other people. They came to the conclusion that nothing had ever been written on the subject. (I am reading that in the book How to win friends and influence people, written by Dale Carnegie.)

Why were they looking for a guide book like that? They found out in a survey that people were interested in two things, namely:

A. Health and

B. THEY WANTED TO KNOW HOW TO GET ALONG WITH OTHER PEOPLE.

Is there really no handbook on the all-important subject of getting along with other people?

What about the Bible, “THE BOOK OF BOOKS”?

And please remember that the Bible is the oldest book in existence.

CRIME RATES

The crime rates are in the news at the present time. (The Northland Age, Tuesday, April 12, 2016 – “Believe it – or not,” page 4)

What can we do, to bring the crime rates down?

Three things are mentioned:

a. We must lower the unemployment levels. Too many people are out of work.

b. We must find an answer to drug and alcohol abuse that works.

c. We must “avoid the worst effects of the curse of social welfare.”

I believe that the crime rates really would fall, if we would come back to the living God as a nation.

Message in the Making

THE CROSS

THE CROSS

“The king replied,

Second Kings 6:27,28

Intr.:

‘If the LORD does not help you, where can I get help for you?

A.  From the threshing floor?

B.  From the winepress?’

End:

Then he asked her, ‘What’s the matter?'”
