“Do you know someone inspiring?”

“Do you know someone inspiring? Contact us.”

That is the question at the end of the article called: “The world’s strongest grandmother.” (Northern News, October 19, 2016)

The inspiring story tells about a grandmother who can lift three times her body weight. Seventeen world masters powerlifting championship gold medals she has won. She is also holding seven current world records.

In one week she trains about ten hours. Hard to believe that she has six meals a day. The meals consist of meat, chicken and fish.

She lives in Kaikohe, not `far from here and where we worked as missionaries for almost 25 years. (United Maori Mission)

Yes, I know people who inspire me. But at the present time I am inspired by a man who lived some time ago and is now at home with the Lord. I have five books written by him, all about Personal Evangelism, all about how he is leading people to the Lord Jesus Christ. His name is George Dempster and the book I am reading just now is called: “LOVEST THOU ME?”

PROMISES

Will they deliver on their promises? That is the question. (Northern News, October 19, 2016.

We are talking here about the newly elected council and their promises for the betterment of our part of New Zealand. We, the people of this region, hope, that they will.

I cannot be sure that they will, but I can be sure, that the promises of the Lord Jesus Christ in the Bible will be fulfilled. There are so many, but here is one:

“‘HEAVEN AND EARTH WILL PASS AWAY, BUT MY WORDS WILL NEVER PASS AWAY.'” – Matthew 24:35

LEAVING ALL

Leaving all to follow the Lord Jesus Christ.

According to the promise in Luke 18:29,30, (Please read that portion of Scripture in the Bible) I have not failed “to receive many times as much in this age”.

December 2, 1966.

I am in Marseille in France to board a ship that is taking me to Bangkok in Thailand to work there as a missionary (“for the sake of the kingdom of God”) with stopovers in Port Said and Singapore. I am arriving in Bangkok on December 23, 1966, just before Christmas

For almost 13 years I worked in Thailand, namely from December 23, 1966 until November 28, 1979, from December 1971 together with my wife.from New Zealand.

From December 8, 1979 until August 17, 1982, we did some more studies at the Bible College of New Zealand, as it was called at that time, started to work as missionaries in Kaitaia (United Maori Mission) and continued in Kaikohe.

From August 22, 1982 until December 1, 1982 I had a short furlough for three months alone in Germany, while my wife carried on in Kaikohe with our two children. On the way to Germany I visited Sydney and Indonesia (Denpasar, Surabaja, Lawang, Batu, Jakarta). On the way back I visited Thailand and Christchurch. (We know a good number of missionaries all over the world.)

Altogether we worked in Kaikohe as missionaries (United Maori Mission) for almost 25 years, namely from September 1981 until December 2004.

Since December 2004 we are retired and living in Kaitaia, in the Far North of New Zealand.

And according to the promise in Luke 18:29,30 I will not fail in the coming age to receive eternal life.

REAL SOLUTIONS

Real solutions are needed.

I am reading that in one of our local news papers, NORTHERN NEWS, October 19, 2016 on page nine.

FIRST of all solutions to CRIME are urgently needed.

SECONDLY real solution to YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT are urgently needed.

THIRDLY real solutions  to attract SMALL and MEDIUM SIZED MANUFACTURING to our area are urgently needed.

What is the real solution to all our problems?

Lately one verse from the Bible comes to my mind again and again. I know the verse from memory. You find the verse in the Old Testament. In Jeremiah 8:9 the prophet says:

“SINCE THEY HAVE REJECTED THE WORD OF THE LORD, WHAT KIND OF WISDOM DO THEY HAVE?”

The real solution to all of our problems is coming back to God, to his word.

Message in the Making (The Amplified Bible)

THE CROSS

THE CROSS

“And with all the people listening, He said to His disciples,

Luke 20:45-47

Intr.:

Beware of the scribes,

  1. who like to walk about in long robes, and
  2.  love to be saluted (with honor) in places where people congregate, and
  3. love the front and best seats in the synagogues, and
  4. places of distinction at feasts,
  5. Who make away with and devour widows’ houses, and (to cover it up) with pretense make long prayers.

End:

They will receive the greater condemnation – the heavier sentence, the severer punishment.”

“And he said to them, I say to you, truly there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God, Who will not receive in return many times more in this world, and in the coming age eternal life.” – Luke 18:29,30
