to the stranger who was concerned that I did not find my friend at a certain place.

Asking for someone at a public place and being told that they did not really know about the whereabouts of that person, was also heard at least by one stranger.

The stranger was really concerned about my dilemma and approached me a little while later to tell me to try Facebook, if I remember correctly.

I was surprised, but remembered the “REGULARS” in Reader’s Digest. One is called “Kindness of Strangers”.

MONEY

“We have ‘In God We Trust’ on our money, but I wonder how often it is really in the money that we trust, ” says Billy Graham.

The Bible says, “‘No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.'” – Matthew 6:24

SHOES

KEMP HOUSE: THE OLDEST BUILDING IN NEW ZEALAND.

In Psalm 60:8 and Psalm 108:9 we read, “…, upon Edom I toss my sandal; …” David said that.

Shoes in Palestine and in the days of the Bible.

Houses in Palestine have a threshold called the mastaby. There all the people who enter the house remove their shoes and enter barefooted.

Shoes are always spoken of with great disrespect. Shoes are considered unclean like dogs. The work of a slave was to unloose the shoe. What did John the Baptist say? He said that he was not worthy to unloose the shoes of the Lord Jesus Christ. In Exodus 3:5 it says, “‘Do not come any closer,’ God said. ‘Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.'” Read also Joshua 5:15.

What does it mean, “… upon Edom I toss my sandal?” (Psalm 60:8) The meaning of “To cast the shoe upon” anyone is to degrade and humble him to the very limit.

Quote

“The chief reason why men should believe on the Lord Jesus Christ is that they are under the wrath of God, and that if they die under the wrath of God they will go to hell, and their eternal future will be one of misery and shame.” – D. Martyn-Lloyd-Jones
