Dental Work done Free of Charge (Personal Evangelism)

“DO NOT NEGLECT YOUR TEETH ANOTHER YEAR!”

says the ad (Western Leader, March 27, 2012) and continues:

“Q & A to help you make that appointment!”

Four questions are listed and when I read question

“1) I can’t afford to go to the dentist, it’s so expensive,”

I remembered what Ernie Klassen (Uncle Ernie) is writing in his little booklet SMILE, LAUGH, AND LIVE THE ABUNDANT LIFE ( reflections on Life-style evangelism):

“In a hotel in Germany my wife & I were having lunch so as usual I gave thanks. A young couple a few tables down heard me and came up to us after the meal. They were so glad to have met other Christians, that they invited us to their home. We went. He was a dentist and said if I ever needed dental work done, he would do it free of charge. We’ve taken advantage of that offer many times. It pays to pray out loud before meals!”

“KEEP YOUR COOL”

“NEVER LOSE YOUR COOL”

“You can lose everything, except your temper.” I remember that saying from long ago and I hope I have quoted it correctly.

KEEP YOUR TEMPER. NEVER LOSE YOUR TEMPER. NEVER LOSE YOUR COOL.

With other words don’t lose your composure. Be self-controlled.

Let us see, what the Bible, the word of God, has to say about self- control.

In his first letter to the church of the Thessalonians Paul says to the believers “….let us be alert and self- controlled.” (First Thessalonians 5:6,8)

Self-control is also  a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:23).

In the book of Acts we are reading about a man called Felix. Paul spoke to him about three things: Righteousness, self-control and judgment.  And the BIBLE says “….Felix was afraid…” (Acts 24:25)

Do you want to be effective  in your knowledge  of Jesus? Do you want to be productive in your knowledge of Jesus?  Be self-controlled (Second Peter 1:6)

The following people are told to be self-controlled: Overseers (bishops), older men, older women, young men (Titus chapter one and two)

In Titus 2:12 we read that the grace of God teaches us to live self-controlled.

Second Timothy 3:3 warns us  about the “Godlessness in the Last Days” and we are told that people will be without self-control.

Being clear minded and self-controlled helps us also to pray (First Peter 4:7).

Being alert and self-controlled helps us also not to be devoured by our enemy, the devil (First Peter 5:8)

Proverbs 25:28 compares a man who lacks self-control  with a city whose walls are broken down.

We have feelings. We have emotions. We have reactions.

Let us keep control over our feelings, emotions and reactions!

We need somewhere solid to place our Feet!

“I resigned from work in the hope that less travelling would give me  a sense of somewhere solid to place my feet,” writes Bridget Hilton-Barber in “Garden of My Ancestors.” (Reader’s Digest, October, 2008)

“For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is JESUS CHRIST,”  is one of the verses in the BIBLE I can say from memory.  (First Corinthians 3:11)

The BIBLE teaches also about a “stone in Zion”. It is a cornerstone. It is a chosen cornerstone. It is a precious cornerstone. It is a tested stone . It is a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation. (First Peter 2:6; Isaiah 28:16)

The Lord JESUS CHRIST is the cornerstone.

I trust him. And because of my trust in the Lord JESUS CHRIST I will never be dismayed or put to shame.  That are the promises of the BIBLE. (Again First Peter 2:6 and Isaiah 28:16)

Please trust HIM too, and you have somewhere solid to place your feet in the storms of life.

Come Home!

“A man travels the world over in search of what he needs and returns home to find it,”  is a quote by George Moore.

I am reading here about  a young man who set off  to travel the world and instead of finding what he needs “he began to be in need.”

And after he said to himself, “I will set out and go back to my father….” his needs were met.

Can you guess in which book I am reading about this young man?

It is “THE PARABLE OF THE LOST SON” in the Gospel of Luke. (Luke 15:11-24)

“SAY HELLO TO TEN STRANGERS…”

“SAY HELLO TO TEN STRANGERS ON NOVEMER 21 – WORLD HELLO DAY. BY GREETING OTHERS, THE MESSAGE IS FOR WORLD LEADERS TO USE PEACE RATHER THAN FORCE TO SETTLE CONFLICTS.” ( I am reading that in the NOVEMBER 2006 Reader’s Digest)

I like to say HELLO to strangers every day and tell them about the Lord Jesus Christ and the message of JUSTIFICATION.

One result of JUSTIFICATION is PEACE. Romans 5:1 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God.”

Alban Douglas writes in his book ONEHUNDRED BIBLE LESSONS on page 118  that we have:

1. PEACE of conscience through the mercy of God.

2. PEACE of heart through the love of God.

3. PEACE of mind through the truth of God. We are very familiar with the phrase “Peace of mind.”

4. PEACE of soul through the presence of God.

Luke 23:33,34 in the Paper

With great joy I discovered a verse from the BIBLE in the paper today. (The New Zealand Herald, Monday, April 9, 2012)

On page A 28 at the bottom in the left corner it says: “TEXT FOR TODAY”

And the verse from the BIBLE is Luke 23:33,34

“When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him,…… Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they don’t now what they are doing.'”
