SAVE THE BANKS

The biggest rescue plan to save the banks in the history of Germany after world war two was signed by the German president on the 17th of October. The people are queasy and there are signs of uncertainty all over the place. The great question is: Where is security?

We must store up treasures for ourselves on another account. That is our goal in life and that’s what you are doing at the place where you are.

That’s how the last monthly letter from the Missionary Society called WEC International started. ( I am a member of WEC International. )

That letter reminded me of what our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ says in Matthew 6:19-21. Please read the verses. The Lord is talking about two banks, the bank on earth and the bank in heaven.

It is now easier for us to understand, how quick banks on earth can be destroyed. And believe it or not, but only the other day we had a bank robbery here in Kaitaia.

But there is one bank which cannot be destroyed, the bank in heaven. That’s why the Lord says,” But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven….”

The Lord says in Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there you heart will be also.”

Where is my heart and where is your heart?

GARAGE SALES

I have mentioned already several times the book “MORNING AND EVENING” By CH Spurgeon (Daily Readings). Today is the 15th of November and the morning reading was a real blessing.

I don’t think I have ever told you how I got hold of the precious book: FOR 50 CENTS IN A GARAGE SALE BOUGHT BY BEVERLEY.

And in really GOOD condition!

MY CHRISTMAS IS……………

Books, laughter, indulgence, spoiling, reading, escapism, giving, dreaming, relaxing. That’s what I read on a poster today.

What is your Christmas?

A number of years ago we stopped in Whangarei for lunch at Christmas time and I asked somebody sitting near us in the park, “What do you think what the meaning of Christmas is? The answer was, “Being together with family and friends.”

How interesting it is to ask people, “What is your Christmas?” I should ask some more people and write down the answers.

Do you want to know what Christmas is for me?

Please turn to the Bible and read with me from the Gospel of Luke chapter two the verse eleven. There it says, Today in the town of David a SAVIOUR has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11

It talks here about a Saviour. I always thought that there was something wrong and that I needed help badly. And there it was, “a Saviour has been born to you.” And that is the meaning of CHRISTMAS! A Saviour has been born and saved us from destruction.

Praise the LORD!

NO PLACE (PERSON) TO GO TO?

ALL the lights are out and it is getting dark and cold. But it is a really hot and sunny day. Have you ever been in a situation like that and felt like that?

JUDAS in the Bible hanged himself when that happened in his life. Matthew 27:1-16.

He did not have a place (person) to go to.

We (believers) do have a person to go to. We go to the Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 11:28

SO MANY BOOKS. …………SO LITTLE TIME.

That’s true! When somebody talked about books some time ago, he called it “the second flood.” Yes, we are flooded with books. I hope, I understand the above correctly: There are so many books, but I have so little time for reading.

The Bible says also in Ecclesiastes 12:12 ” Of making many books there is no end…”

Of course, we cannot read all the books and we don’t want to read all the books. But there is one book we must read and that is the BIBLE. You ask me why? Here is one reason:” Matthew 24:35 says,” Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”
