SECURITY (Post Number: 1 500)

I found a PlaceMakers pamphlet in our house called “Securing your home.”

On page one you can find a checklist of Preventive Products for Home Security. (Door Locks, Spot Lights, Padlocks, just to name a few.) Also on page one the question: What is security? is answered.security 044 Interesting reading! The pamphlet has eleven pages.

Have you ever read what it says in Psalm 127:1? Read it!

Of course we are all concerned about the security of our homes. But the security of our souls is of more importance than the security of our homes. In Hebrews 6:19,20 it says this:

“WE HAVE THIS HOPE AS AN ANCHOR FOR THE SOUL, FIRM AND SECURE . IT ENTERS THE INNER SANCTUARY BEHIND THE CURTAIN, WHERE JESUS, WHO WENT BEFORE US, HAS ENTERED ON OUR BEHALF. HE HAS BECOME A HIGH PRIEST FOREVER, IN THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK.”

(Proverbs 14:26)

HOW DO I KNOW THAT I AM ETERNALLY SECURE?

1. I have been regenerated by the Word and Spirit of God.

2. I have received a new life and a new nature.

3. I have been made a partaker of  the divine nature.

4. I have been justified from every charge before the throne of God.

ROOTS AND WINGS

“THERE ARE TWO THINGS WE SHOULD GIVE OUR CHILDREN:

ONE IS ROOTS

AND

THE OTHER IS WINGS.”

Hodding Carter

I am reading that with great joy, because that’s excactly what the Bible, the Word of the Living God is teaching.

In Colossians 2:7 our roots are mentioned and in Isaiah 40:31 it talks about our wings.

Colossians 2:6,7

“So then:

— just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord,

— continue to live in him,

rooted in him and

built up in him,

— strengthened in the faith as you were taught,

— and overflowing with thankfulness.”

Isaiah 40:30,31

Even

— youths grow tired and weary, and

— young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the Lord

— will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles;

— they will run and not grow weary,

— they will walk and not be faint.”

Humanism is very much Alive!

I found that out again today when I picked up a very little book in the local bookshop called: “The Road to Success.” Chapter one in that book is called “Believe in Yourself.”

“Self-trust is the first secret of success…..” This is one of the quotes in chapter one. The quote is by Ralph Waldo Emerson. He lived from 1803 – 1882.

How does the dictionary define humanism? Here we are: the rejection of  religion in favour of a belief in the advancement of humanity by its own efforts.

The Bible teaches the exact opposite.

Here are some verses about believing:

John 3:36

“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath REMAINS on him.”

Romans 1:16

First John 5:10

Here are some verses about trusting:

Proverbs 28:26

“HE WHO TRUSTS IN HIMSELF IS A FOOL,…..”

Jeremiah 17:5

” ‘ CURSED IS THE ONE WHO TRUSTS IN  MAN,…’ “
