THE RECOVERY VERSION

Have you ever heard about THE RECOVERY VERSION of the Bible?

I have here a FREE OFFER to receive my FREE copy of the Recovery Version New Testament. All I need is  to send in the attached card.

The very attractive coloured flyer is now here before me and on the first page it says:

THE RECOVERY VERSION

THE BIBLE UNLOCKED

YOUR KEY TO UNDERSTANDING GOD’S WORD

I have not only read different translations of the BIBLE, but I have also read the BIBLE in different languages. (German, English, Thai)

But from the moment I, a sinner, accepted Christ, 38 things happened to me and from that moment on I understood the Bible.

Before that moment the Bible was like any other book on the bookshelf.

“The ten Things Children need most”

It’s a brochure with a good number of pages and the title is “The 10 things children need most”.

The pamphlet is put out by a service of the Ministry of Social Development called “child, youth and family”.

Ten “basics for health and happiness” are listed. I am going to mention a few from the small booklet:

Children need praise and encouragement. It says also that a new baby needs lots of smiles. It’s also good to talk to babies it says. Listen to children is important. There are also suggestions how to provide them with new experiences like singing with them, playing with them etc.

Taking care of the feelings of the child is also important.

Children know that we care, when we give them rewards and special treats.

“The ten things children need most.”

I was looking for the the most important thing – but I did not find it of course. I am not surprised.

The BIBLE, the Word of the Living God says, that it is our duty, to impress the commandments of the Lord  on our children.

Deuteronomy 6:7; Deuteronomy 11:19

Talk about them:

–when you sit at home and

–when you walk along the road

–when you lie down

–and when you you get up.

But how can we do that when we ourselves don’t know the Bible, the Word of the Living God?

Is this generation teaching the next generation  the WORD OF GOD?

Deuteronomy 4:9

“TEACH THEM TO YOUR CHILDREN AND TO THEIR CHILDREN AFTER THEM.”

We do have a great responsibility!

Psalm 71:18; Psalm 78:4; Psalm 102:18

“Creating Peaceful Pathways”

“Two slain in family home” is the headline in the paper today!

And it was only yesterday that I said I would write about “Creating Peaceful Pathways”.

In fact the flyer about “creating peaceful pathways” has been in my possession for a long time. It is all about workshops. The workshops are “offering conflict resolution skills to change lives”.

We are aware of conflict. Our environment is no longer safe. Our communities are no longer safe. We cannot trust our relationships.

What is the answer?

In the leaflet here before me I read about a belief:

There is a power for peace in  everyone. There is a power for good in everyone. And this power has the ability to transform people and situations.

The workshops are also listed. There is a basic workshop and then there are the advanced workshops.

Is that the answer?

I ask the question once more.

What is the answer?

What is the formula that would get us on to peaceful pathways?

There is “warfare” almost everywhere!

Why is that?

We have rejected God. Peace comes from God. Why do we war with one another? Because of SIN! What is SIN? Sin is that we have declared war against God.

Billy Graham says:

“Only Christ can cancel sin and create a peace treaty with God and then between men.”

Success is a Big Subject

Read just now a tweet on success, but  I don’t remember it.

Here is a quote:

“Success will not lower its standard to us. We must raise our standard to success.”

Rev. Randall R. McBride, jr.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE, THE WORD OF THE LIVING GOD SAY?

Read Joshua 1:7; Joshua 1:8

Storms

“I’ m not afraid of storms, for I’ m learning to sail my ship.”

Louisa May Alcott

Do you know what?

A bit of a song comes to my mind: “With Christ in the vessel I can smile at the storm.” Don’t know the rest!

My question is:

What is humanistic teaching and what is biblical teaching?
