Yesterday I learned about an “internet resource to support communities throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.”
CommunityNet Aotearoa
On the back of the card it says, “At CommunityNet Aotearoa, you’ll find resources to help New Zealand community groups do amazing things, as well as news, job vacancies, new policies, upcoming events, training, hot topics.”
Let us pray that the “hot topic” will be praying for the community.
Linda Bond is the general of The Salvation Army and she says:
“Revival comes, when we stop praying for ourselves and start praying for the community. God has raised up The Salvation Army for its communities.”
“Get the right kinds of religion and it will make you feel. If you have not the right kind of feeling, I am afraid you do not have the right kind of religion.” – Catherine Booth, Papers in Godliness
If I remember correctly, that must have been the words somewhere at the end of the letter the leader of the home base in Germany received from the field leader in Thailand, concerning my coming as a missionary to Thailand.
“More power to you.”
POWER
This is what we read about the power of God in the Bible:
We are reading about the Power to Keep or to shield. (Second Peter 1:3)
We are reading about the Power to Uphold or to sustain. (Hebrews 1:3)
We are reading about the Power to Equip. (Ephesians 6:10)
We are reading about the Power to Use. ( Acts 1:8)
But most of all I like Second Peter 1:3, where we read about the Power to Give.
It says there:
“HIS DIVINE POWER HAS GIVEN US EVERYTHING WE NEED FOR LIFE AND GODLINESS THROUGH OUR KNOWLEDGE OF HIM WHO CALLED US BY HIS OWN GLORY AND GOODNESS.”
“REVIVAL comes, when we stop praying for ourselves and start praying for the community. God has raised up The Salvation Army for its communities.” General Linda Bond
“Planner 2014,” it says almost at the end of my 2013 Collins 83A diary.
In his letter James, the brother of the Jesus, asks the question: “How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow?” (James 4:14, NLT)
PLANNER 2014
I do not know what my life will be like tomorrow. I do not know what my life will be like in January 2014. I also do not know what my life will be like in April 2014. And you do not know either what your life will be like next year.
BUT GOD KNOWS!
That’s why James writes we ought to say, “‘If the Lord wants us to, we will be alive and do this or that.'” (James 4:15, NLT)
I want to do that. I want to say, “If the Lord wants me to be still alive in 2014, I want to serve Him.”
“Although the LORD sent prophets to the people to bring them back to him, and though they testified against them, they would not listen.” – Second Chronicles 24:19
