THE CROSS

“Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under you care,

First Peter 5:2-4

Intr:

serving as overseers –

1.  not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be;

2.  not greedy for money, but eager to serve;

3.  not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples of the flock.

End:

And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.”

Where shall we go?

“‘You do not want to leave too, do you?’ Jesus asked the Twelve.” And what does Simon Peter answer? Here is his answer: “‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal live.'”

The apostle says to the sanctified in Corinth that it is because of God that they are in Christ Jesus and that the Lord Jesus Christ has become for them wisdom from God. He explains also what that means.

It means three things:

1. The Lord Jesus Christ is their righteousness.

The Lord made them right with God.

2. The Lord Jesus Christ is their holiness.

The Lord made them pure and holy.

3. The Lord Jesus Christ is their redemption.

The Lord freed them from sin.
