Das Museumsschiff ‘TUI’
We lived in Kaikohe, when this was written:
“Dieser kleine Ziegel wurde von dem Taucher Mr. Harper von dem Schiffswrack heraufgebracht und zwar im Jahre 1908. Und wenige Minuten danach starb er an der Decompression Krankheit, die man auch in englisch ‘The Bends’ nennt,” las er seinem Jungen vor, als sie sich die Schaetze ansahen, die Taucher von gesunkenen Schiffen gerettet hatten.
Alle diese Schaetze kann man auf dem Schiff TUI sehen, das als Museum eingerichtet ist und in Waitangi im Norden von Neuseeland vor Anker liegt. Besonders waren der Vater und der Sohn an den Schaetzen interessiert, die man von dem Schiff ELINGAMITE gehoben hatte. Und in einem anderen Glaskasten konnte man die Muenzen sehen, die man aus dem Schiff gehoben hatte.

Das Schiff ELINGAMITE hatte als Fracht Gold und Silbermuenzen, die es von Sydney in Australien nach Auckland in Neuseeland zu bringen hatte. Die ELINGAMITE sank im Jahre 1902 bei der Inselgruppe THREE KINGS. Es war nebelig und innerhalb von dreissig Minuten sank es auf den Boden des Ozeans, ungefaehr 150 feet tief. Vielen Matrosen der Besatzung gelang es, sich auf die steilen Felsen zu retten. Funfundvierzig Menschen starben durch Ertrinken.
Die beiden Besucher lasen in der Beschreibung weiter, dass im ganzen drei Taucher bei den Bergungsversuchen der Schaetze starben, denn bald nach dem Unglueck machte man sich daran, die gesunkenen Schaetze zu heben. Obwohl der Ozean dort wirklch wild ist und es dort starke Stroemungen gibt, haben die Taucher Muenzen im Wert von 1200 Dollars aus den Wrack herausgebracht. Eineinhalb Tonnen Muenzen sind bis heute noch im Wasser. Mr. Harper war einer der Taucher, der beim Heben der Muenzen starb.
Und wir als Christen sind doch eigentlich auch dabei, Schaetze zu heben. Es gibt so viele Menschen um uns her die sehr tief gesunken sind und sie brauchen unsere Hilfe, ob sie es wissen oder nicht. Aber sind WIR willig, sie aufzuheben, wo sie gestrandet sind? Das koennen manchmal Plaetze sein, die wirklich nicht schoen sind. Da sind die Trinker. Da sind die Drogenabhaengigen. Und da sind auch all die anderen …
Taucher Harper gab sein Leben, um irdische Schaetze zu sammeln und zu haben. Und er starb, nachdem er noch einen kleinen Ziegel ans Tageslicht gebracht hatte.
Wollen wir doch auch unser Leben einsetzen, wenn es darum geht, kostbare Menschenseelen zu retten.
MENSCHENSEELEN HABEN EINEN EWIGKEITSWERT.
Der Herr Jesus kam vom Himmel um uns, die versunkenen Menschen zu erretten. Er verliess die Herrlichkeit und kam auf diese dunkle Erde und sucht noch immer Schaetze … durch uns, seine Boten.
Welch eine Verantwortung.

It seems that we have an excessive desire for everything, for FOOD, for WEALTH, for POWER.
That is actually GREED.
Greedy people make trouble for others, especially those who are experts in being greedy. Greed is actually idolatry. Greedy people have no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Greed is also improper for true followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. The apostle Peter has this message for the elders in churches: Don’t be greedy for money, but be eager to serve. And the Lord Jesus Christ tells us to watch and tells us to be on our guard against greed. And he says also that there are all kinds of greed.

“‘It’s all about the book,'” I read on the bookmark this morning, when I opened the book called MORNING AND EVENING (Daily Readings) by Charles Haddon Spurgeon.
It is just amazing that all of a sudden you notice things that have always been there.
And yes, it is all about the book.
It is all about the source book of our knowledge of God.
The first sentence of the source book of our knowledge of God says, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)
It is all about the textbook of divine truth.
This is what I read in the textbook of divine truth in the gospel of John, “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life.'” (John 14:6)
It is all about the guide book to everlasting life.
In the guide book to everlasting life we read also, “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” (John 17:3)
It is all about the oldest book in existence.

It is all about “THE BOOK OF BOOKS,” the Bible.
Sir Walter Scott wrote many books. He had also a great library. And this is what he said: “There is but one book, the BIBLE.”
