When Courage is Needed

AT THE BEACH

AT THE BEACH

“He was just a man.”

That was said at the funeral of a great leader who was highly respected in every way by many people.

I liked that and it came again to my mind when I read yesterday what two people wrote in a magazine about someone who did not die but was also in leadership for quite some time at a certain place but took up another position somewhere else.

What the two people wrote in that magazine was only good. At least I could not find anything else.

I used to work in Thailand for a number of years and when I finished working there  a Thai leader said, “BANG SING KO DI, BANG SING KO MAI DI!”

And he was right, “some things were good and some things were not good.”

A man who had courage spoke those words.

The Gospel

“The glory of the gospel is this, that it is concerned about us and not about our circumstances.” – D. Martyn Lloyd – Jones

I read again chapter 19 “The Peace of God” in the book SPIRITUAL DEPRESSION by D. M. Lloyd – Jones. The above quote is from  that chapter.

Mother’s Day – 11th May 2014

"Happy Mother's Day"

“Happy Mother’s Day”

“Mothers plant the seeds of love that help us bloom forever.”

“Mothers hold their children’s hands a while and heir hearts forever.”

“Grandmas make the world a grander place.”

“Mums are like buttons. They hold things together.”

D. Martyn Lloyd – Jones: “SPIRITUAL DEPRESSION.”

depression 010Today I finished reading the book “SPIRITUAL DEPRESSION” by D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones.

If you are looking for good Bible Teaching, read the book!

If you want to grow spiritually, read the book!

Years ago I remember seeing the sign “PRAYER CHANGES THINGS” in a study room.

“No, it does not. Prayer does not ‘change things,'”  says D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones.

Have you ever wished to control your mind?

D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones says, “we cannot control our hearts and minds.”

Please read about that in chapter 14 called “The Peace of God.”

The book has 16 chapters and 300 pages.

GREED

“The more we have, the more we want; we are never satisfied,” is a translated saying from German. In German it rhymes.

That proverb came to my mind today when walking back from town to our home, and when I was thinking about all the Mother’s Day advertisements I saw there.

Mother's Day

Mother’s Day

There are not many here who are not aware that coming Sunday is Mother’s Day in New Zealand.

I think Mother’s Day is about making money and the word greed came to my mind.

Greedy people are “excessively desirous of food or wealth,” says The Collins Concise Dictionary.

And what does the BIBLE say about  greed and greedy people?

The BIBLE teaches that:

We must be on our guard against greed.

Greed is idolatry and we must put it to death.

Greedy people will not inherit the kingdom of God.
