PROMISES (This is also a Topical Sermon)

How can adults help students to be well-behaved?

“KEEP YOUR PROMISES,” is one suggestion by students. (I am learning that from a Children’s Commissioner pamphlet.)

THERE ARE PROMISES MADE BY HUMANS.

Parents make promises to their children and teachers make promises to their students. Adults make promises to adults.

BUT THERE ARE ALSO PROMISES MADE BY GOD.

Here are some of the promises:

1. Hebrews 13:5,6 He promises HELP in need.

2. Isaiah 41:10 He promises STRENGTH in weakness.

3. Matthew 14:27 He promises CHEER in despondency.

4. Psalm 32:8 He promises COUNSEL in perplexity.

5. Isaiah 66:12 He promises PEACE in trouble.

6. Isaiah 61:3 He promises GLADNESS in sorrow.

7. Acts 1:4-8 He promises POWER in service.

Parents and teachers forget what they have promised, but God never forgets his promises. Psalm 145:13 says, “The LORD is faithful to all his promises …”
