John Newton wrote the first four verses of the hymn “AMAZING GRACE”.

“AMAZING GRACE”

BEFORE his conversion he was a seaman selling slaves.

AFTER his conversion he became an Anglican minister.

But he did not only write hymns. He had a friend called William Cowper and with the help of William Cowper, he produced a hymnbook.

It’s all about collecting money for the Cancer Society.

“SPARK IS COMING,” was written on the special looking envelope I found in our letterbox some time ago.

I am a reader of the Bible and whenever I hear or read that something or someone is coming (and I write with reference), I straight away think about the Day of the Lord and the Second Coming of Christ.

“SPARK IS COMING”

Paul is writing to the church of the Thessalonians concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in Second Thessalonians 2:1.

And Peter is telling “those who through the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours,” about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Second Peter 1:16)

THE SECOND COMING OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST IS FORETOLD:

Luke 21:27

“At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.”

BUT WE DO NOT KNOW THE TIME OF THE SECOND COMING OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST:

Matthew 24:36

“No one knows about that day and hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”

THAT’S WHY WE MUST BE ALWAYS READY FOR THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST:

Matthew 24:44

“So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”

As yet I have not opened the “Spark is Coming” letter, but I better find out what it is all about.

It is a letter from Spark New Zealand Limited. (In the letter it says in bold face, “The most important thing to know is that you don’t need to do anything differently.”)
