There is a book on my bookshelf called

REPENTANCE

The Joy – Filled Life.

Not only a date is written in the book by the reader, but it looks as if whole paragraphs are underlined, sentences are highlighted, the reader has lavishly written in the book, not only with pencil, but also with pen, and it looks as if the book is almost coming apart.

The date in the book is the year 1998, and the author of the book is BASILEA SCHLINK.

“M. Basilea Schlink is the founder and director of the Evangelical Sisterhood of Mary in Darmstadt, Germany, and Phoenix, Arizona. She is the author of many books and holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Psychology from the University of Hamburg.”

It happens very seldom that I underline things in my books and write in them.

SHEEP

Long ago I heard in a sermon that the Lord’s sheep have two marks.

SHEEP

SHEEP

In John 10:27 the Lord Jesus Christ says,

“‘My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.'”

They have a mark on the ear and on the foot.

SOUL OR BODY?

The library in Kaitaia

The library in Kaitaia

Why am I asking that question (again!)?

It was this morning in our library, when I saw the books on the special stand. I even counted them, but I have forgotten the exact number.

Even before you enter the library properly, you come to the stand, where the books are displayed. All the books had to do with cooking, all of them.

It seems to me that at the present time the body is more important than the soul. How tragic.

PLACARDS

I cannot help noticing the excitement about summer and the beach here in the north of New Zealand.

“Life is better at the beach,” says a big placard you can hang on the wall in one shop. I think it is made of wood and I know that it is very expensive, because I asked.

“Chasing Summer” and “Your new season style” I am reading inside a shop on the other side of the road.

In a third shop here in Kaitaia I find more of the same. “Life is better at the beach,” I am reading again on a smaller board. I don’t know what it is made of. “Beach House Please take off your shoes,” is another one. The next placard says, “Summer is all I want.” And here is the last one: “A good day at the beach ends with sandy toes and a sunkissed nose.”

There is so much to hang on the walls.

But is it not sad that we do not notice much excitement about heaven, even among true followers of the Lord Jesus Christ? Life, eternal life in heaven, cannot even be compared with life here on earth. If you are born again, think about it.
