“QUIETNESS”

“…, in quietness … is your strength, … ” we read in Isaiah 30:15.

If there is any Bible verse that has been on my mind it is Isaiah 30:15, and “…, in quietness … is your strength, …” has been on my mind for many years; in fact it seems to me that those words have been on my mind from the beginning of my life as a christian until now.

The Lord is teaching us and he wants us to be obedient, and when we are poor students he has sometimes drastic measures to make us listen.

Hebrews tells us about the discipline and punishment of the Lord and that he rebukes us. He does that because he loves his sons and daughters. (Hebrews chapter 12)

The reason why Isaiah 30:15 is coming again and again to my mind is that I still have not learned to be quiet. But I am thankful that the Lord is continuing to tell me to be quiet.

And being quiet makes us also strong!

“A FRESH NEW START”

I see “a fresh new start” poster hanging in the shop window and I am asking myself, “Why?”

Is it because we wish we could start all over again?

Is it because we wish we could start all over again with a new life, a new slate?

"A fresh nen start"

“A fresh new start”

The fact is that we can start all over again with a new slate, a new life.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness,” is a verse in the Bible I have memorized and I repeat that verse quite often to myself. You find the verse in John’s first letter in the first chapter and it is verse nine. That is the New Testament of course.

If we want to start all over again with a new life we must come to the Lord Jesus Christ. We must confess our sins.

When we do that, the Lord Jesus Christ gives us a brand new start.

“BUMPER YEAR FOR CAR SALES”

“Bumper year for car sales,” is a very interesting article in one of our local papers, Northern News , January 21, 2015.

Quotes from the article:

“Our love affair with motor vehicles was strong in 2014, …”

"Are cars your whole life?"

“Are cars your whole life?”

“‘We now have the largest number of cars in this country, ever. Our figures indicate that there are now 5.7 passenger vehicles for every 10 people.'”

A question:

Is it true that at certain times around Auckland the cars are almost bumper to bumper?
