The authority by which a Christian leader leads is not power but love, not force, but example, not coercion but reasoned persuasion. Leaders have power, but power is safe only in the hands of those who humble themselves to serve.” – John Stott

THE CROSS

THE CROSS

“King Herod heard about this,

Mark 6:14-16

Intr.:

for Jesus’ name had become well known.

1.  Some were saying,

‘John the Baptist has been raised from the dead, and that is why miraculous powers are at work in him.’

2.  Others said,

‘He is Elijah.’

3.  And still others claimed,

‘He is a prophet, like one of the prophets of long ago.’

End:

But when Herod heard this, he said,

‘John, the man I beheaded has been raised from the dead!”

Obedience

OBEDIENCE IS THE KEY.

KEY

KEY

“We may want to examine Jesus’ teaching from every angle to determine whether we should obey it or not, but the Scripture tells us that we must start with obedience if we want to understand God’s will. The path toward maturity is not more knowledge, but choosing to do what is plainly written. This is how we come into a true knowledge of God.” – (Anon.)
