One advantage in preaching through a book of the Bible, as we are proposing to do, is that it compels us to face every single statement, come what may, and stand before it, and look at it, and allow it to speak to us.” – D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones

To be a Christian means that God through the Spirit is working in our soul, and has given you a new birth, and has put a principle of heavenly life within you.” – D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones
The Source
I like to say, “Let us throw our stones far enough.”
What do I mean by that? I mean that we should go to the source.
I experienced lately that I forget to do that myself.
Quite a long time ago now I saw written “COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS” on something in a shop and I bought it.
It makes actually a good present for somebody.
For a long time “COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS” was standing in one of our rooms.
When I read it I was reminded to count my blessings. It surely is good to count our blessings. And there are many. But it is also good to be thankful for all the blessings. It is good to practice to be thankful.
But D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones reminded me not only to count my blessings and be thankful for my blessings.
In his book GOD’S ULTIMATE PURPOSE he says,
“The practical man is not one who runs after the blessings, but the man who considers the Source of the blessings and is in touch with that Source.”
What a reminder for all of us to throw our stones far enough.
WAR CRY GIVEAWAY
“How was it that the early Christians, who were but a handful of people, had such a profound impact on the pagan world in which they lived?”
That is the question D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones is asking in his book GOD’S ULTIMATE PURPOSE. (An exposition of Ephesians one)
His answer is, “It was because they were what they were. It was not their organization, it was the QUALITY of their life, it was the power they possessed, because they were truly Christian.”
To win a copy of MISSION CREEP, tell us how to keep focused on the big picture.
I think Martyn Lloyd-Jones gives the answer how to keep focused on the big picture.
The writer of the book MISSION CREEP is Larry Osborne.
And he says, “Our ‘bullseye’ should always be evangelism and discipleship.” He also, “challenges the Church to re-focus on lifelong discipleship that values QUALITY over quantity, and people over perfection.”
