“If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat;

if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.

In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head,

and the LORD will reward you.”

– Proverbs 25:21,22

“Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” – Acts 17:11

“Coincidence”

Looking through the window of the premises of the Salvation Army here in Kaitaia on Commerce Street today, (It is Friday and Waitangi Day) it seemed to me as if I saw copies of the WAR CRY (magazine) for coming Sunday on the small table in the foyer, which does not happen very often. Usually I pick up the magazine on Sunday in the hall, where the church service is being held.

SA Premises on Commerce Street in Kaitaia

I am familiar with all the pictures on the front pages of the previous issues, but this one had a Marae on the front page and that was new to me.

I was actually on my way to the coffee shop almost next door to the SA place, which I knew was open on this holiday. Drinking my coffee and watching what was going on on the street in front of the shop, I was surprised to see the Salvation Army officers/ministers with some other people going to the door of the SA premises and I was wondering if they would unlock the building and enter it.

Leaving my coffee for the moment  and the shop I looked, and yes, the group entered the building and I was able to find out if it was the WAR CRY for coming Sunday. And yes, it was. What a surprise!

I know that “COINCIDENCE. WHEN GOD CHOOSES TO REMAIN ANONYMOUS” has been used as a church sign.

HOTLINES

“TEAC total care hotline,” read someone from the owner’s manual of a TEAC Digital Stereo HI FI System, and I was not only listening, but I asked for the manual to read it myself.

“For operational difficulties, service requirements or general enquiries call 8.30 am – 5.30 pm Monday to Friday TOLL FREE,” is also written in the manual, and the phone number is given of course.

Do I ever like to hear and read about Total CARE.

In the Bible we are reading also about Total Care. Please listen to these four promises:

HOTLINE

1. “Cast your CARES on the LORD and he will sustain you; …” (Psalm 55:22).

2. “He [The LORD] CARES for those who trust him, …” (Nahum 1:7).

3. “Cast all your anxieties on him because he CARES for you” (First Peter 5:7).

4. “After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and CARES for it, just as Christ does the church – ” (Ephesians  5:29).

Does JESUS CARE?” is a hymn by Frank Graeff. You should read the four verses of the hymn and receive a blessing. I am quoting here verse four:

“Does Jesus care when I’ve said good-bye to the dearest on earth to me,

and my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks-is it aught to Him? Does He see?”

And here is the chorus:

” O yes, He CARES, I know he CARES! His heart is touched with my grief;

when the days are weary, the long nights dreary, I know my Saviour CARES.”

“‘and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honour me,'” it says in Psalm 50:15.

I have never called the TEAC hotline, – the phone number given is only for Australia, and I am in New Zealand – but it seems that I call the Lord Jesus Christ all the time.

And I am so glad that the number is never engaged!
