“‘You can settle among us;
Genesis 34:10
Intr.:
the land is open to you.
1. Live in it,
2. trade in it, and
3. acquire property in it.'”
End:
“And God said to him,
Genesis 35:11-13
Intr:
‘I am God Almighty;
1. be fruitful and increase in number.
2. A nation and a community of nations will come from you, and
3. kings will come from your body.
4. The land I gave to Abraham and Isaac I also gave to you, and
5. I will give this land to your descendants after you.’
End:
Then God went up from him at the place where he had talked with him.”
That’s what it says in the September 2011 Reader’s Digest and I am made aware again how important it is to look after things.
In the Reader’s Digest I am reading about “10 techniques to cook smarter – and eat healthier.” It says there also “11 ways to get more fruit and vegetables on you plate,” and “8 weeks to better eating – a few changes every week will get you on track.”
It is important to look after our body. But it is even more important to look after our soul and our spirit. In the Bible we are reading that: “MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT BY EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDETH OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.” Find that in the Bible, in the New Testament, in Matthew 4:4.
And here are some more Bible verses: “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” – John 17:3
“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” – First John 5:13
Looking after my body makes me “discover the secrets of successful ageing!” (Reader’s Digest), but the Bible tells me that looking after my soul and spirit, reading the Bible, makes me discover eternal life.
Let us not forget to look after our body, and let us not forget to look after our soul and spirit.
