WINTER BLUES – PART TWO

Another way to “beat the winter blues” we are told is to “organise something to look forward to.” We are looking forward to our next birthday. Do we? Some people do, some do not. But I think I can safely say that all of us are looking forward to Christmas, even if it is only for the time off.

Followers of the Lord Jesus Christ are looking forward to The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I have learnt that The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is mentioned 318 times in 260 chapters in the New Testament. Did you know that?

The Second Coming of the Lord was foretold by the prophets, by Jesus himself, by the apostle Paul and by the angels. We do not know about the time of Christ’s coming, but we are told about the purpose. We are also told about the signs of Christ’s coming. The manner of His coming is suddenly. You can read that in Mark 13:36.

If organising something to look forward to helps us to survive and thrive in June-August (Winter), how much more helps us anticipating The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ in our life. And we do not organise The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is organised for us.

DRIFTERS

“Two drifters off to see the world,” was written on the camper van I saw today.

In the Bible, in Hebrews 2:1, we find a warning against drifting away. There it says, “So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.” (New Living Translation)

God’s message is the truth. Ignoring God’s message always brings punishment. We cannot escape, if we ignore the message of salvation.

1. It “was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself.” 2. It was “delivered to us by those who heard him speak.” 3. It was confirmed by God “by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose.”

Are we listen carefully to the truth?

If we are drifters off to see the world, we are surely drifting away from the truth.

What is written? The Bible says, “Do not love the world or anything in the world.” Please read First John 2:15-17

PATHWAYS

“Picking the best pathway,” is the title of the column in our local paper called and I want to read more. I am interested. (The Northland Age, Tuesday, June 30, 2015)

And I am reading about an education pathway and how the more we know helps us to find the education pathway that is best for our children to follow.

On top of the education pathway, other pathways are hinted at and the commerce pathway is mentioned.

In the Bible we are reading about the life pathway in Proverbs 15:24 and Psalm 16:11. In Psalm 16:11 David says, “You have made known to me the path of life.”

It is good to know about education pathways, but we must know about the life pathway and must make the life pathway known not only to our children but to everybody.

Why?

Because the life pathway is the foundation for all other pathways.

WINTER BLUES (Part ONE)

WINTER BLUES ( Part One)

June, July and August are the winter months here in New Zealand and people are not all that happy. One reason is that the days are shorter. Some people find that depressing. We are now in the middle of it,

Yesterday I picked up the magazine  called LIVING WELL at our local Pharmacy and I am looking at the article called “Beat the Winter Blues” in the Autumn/Winter 2015 issue. Eight ways are mentioned to beat the winter blues.

One way to beat the blues is to “connect with friends and family,” especially when we are feeling flat. The face-to-face contact is emphasized. This morning on my way to town to buy the local paper I cannot remember with how many people I had a very brief conversation. I entered also one of the coffee shops in town for a cup of coffee. There is a really good coffee shop here in Kaitaia called TOWN & COUNTRY FOOD right in the middle of town.

As follower of the Lord Jesus Christ I am reminded of my contact with the Living God. This morning I did not only read the Bible, but I read also what it says for today in a devotional book. And prayer is talking with Jesus. We can pray everywhere and always. Read First Timothy 2:8 and Luke 18:1.

If connecting with people and having contact with them is so powerful how much more powerful is our contact with the Living God, who created us?

WINTER BLUES PART TWO IS COMING SOON!

“GET CONNECTED”

“Get connected,” is the message.

“Get Connected Electrical Ltd,” I read just now on a work van while I was in town for my cup of coffee.

Get Connected

Get Connected

At THE WAREHOUSE today I picked up a mailer with the headline “GET CONNECTED.” Inside the mailer it says, “Keeping you connected for less.”

I listened to those messages and followed them.

Our home is connected to power and I have a mobile phone.

But I also listened and followed the message of the Bible. The message of the Bible is the message of reconciliation. Salvation is free.

Get connected to your creator.
