Foundations

Yesterday I was reminded again of a good foundation. The floor of the shed behind our house was rotten and we got it fixed. The old floor was made of triboard and did not last long. ( Water made it into weetbix, if you know what I mean.)

The new floor is properly made and we used plywood. It should last for a long time.

But there is a foundation that lasts forever. We read about that foundation in the BIBLE, the Word of the Living God. (First Corinthians 3:11) Click on the verse and read it. I love that verse!

Messages and the most important message

Only yesterday I picked up a leaflet at McDonalds on which it says,” Save Lives- Give Blood.” And at the end of the first page is written,” The management and staff of McDonalds, Kaitaia, are just “STARS” for helping us reach YOU with this message!!”

I take it that ‘STARS’ means very eager? Please correct me on this.

There is also a picture of a boy who has a rare condition. He needs antibody concentrates every four weeks to live. The antibody concentrates are made from blood.

There is also a very common condition which we all have. We have lost fellowship with our creator, because of sin. It all started in the Garden of Eden. There is only one remedy for our sinful condition and that is the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 1:7; Ephesians 2:13; Colossians 1:14; Colossians 1:20) Only the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ cleanses us from our sin. The Lord Jesus Christ loved us so much, that he died for us. He gave his blood for us.

William Cowper gave us the hymn, “There is a fountain filled with blood…”

In Verse three he says,” Dear dying lamb, Thy precious blood shall never loose its pow’r, till all the ransomed Church of God be saved to sin no more.

There are also other songs of course which speak about the precious blood of the lamb of God.

But what are we doing about this message of the cross?

At the beginning I told you that the management of McDonalds is all ‘STARS’ to get the ‘Save Lives-Give Blood’ message out to the people.

Are we as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ all STARS for the Lord and HIS message? We are commanded to be. (Philippians 2:14,15,16*)

* Please notice the word STARS in verse 15 (NIV Translation)!

SURPRISE! SURPRISE! SURPRISE!

I did not expect to find the BIBLE on THAT list. But what a surprise, there was number 14 and it said: “THE BIBLE. The foundation stone of Christianity continues to inspire and guide.”

I am talking about the Whitcoulls List where it says,” Discover the 100 best books in the world as voted by New Zealanders .” It continues to say,” Your votes have been counted and the results are in store now…Welcome to the latest Whitcoulls Top 100 List, which reflects what NZ really love to read.”

It also says,” How have the rankings changed since the last list?” The ranking movement key for the BIBLE says,” Book has stayed in the same position.”

Anzac Day-25/4/2008

I am working on a leaflet for Anzac Day and maybe I can even get the leaflets printed before the 25th of April. I am in touch with printers.

I know there is so much activity (christian) going on– but what we need is more earnest prayer!

LEST WE FORGET

In front of the New Lynn Library in Auckland you can see a monument with the following writing: “LEST WE FORGET- In memory of those who served and gave their lives.”

When I read that today I straight away thought : LEST WE FORGET- In memory of Him who served and gave his life!

I am thinking now of course about the life of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

It is all very well to think about the people who died in the wars. I also lost my father in the second world war. I never knew him. I never met him. I have no memories of him. In fact I don’t even know where he died. Probably it was in Czechoslovakia. Maybe it was not. Who knows? So far as I know his name is not written on one of those monuments. There are also many like me who grew up without a father. It is sad to grow up wihout a father; but if you have to you have to. I had to anyway.
OK, we should not forget our dead soldiers who died in battle. But if we should forget, there are not too many consequences. But if we forget the Lord Jesus Christ and what He has done for us there are eternal consequences. We are all living forever either with the Lord or without him.

Because in order to stand before God the Father, we need the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ, because we are all sinners. As we are born we cannot stand before God, the Father.

When the Lord Jesus Christ becomes our personal Saviour, God becomes our heavenly Father and looks after us. From my own experience I can say it is so good to be able to say,” My Father in Heaven!”
