THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND AUTHORITY

In his book AUTHORITY, pp 86-7 Martin Lloyd-Jones tells us about men who had the authority, namely Howell Harris, Whitefield, Wesley, Jonathan Edwards and Dwight L. Moody.

Howell Harris:

When he did not feel the authority, he was not happy. He confessed his sin until he felt the authority. For him preaching was in vain apart from the ‘authority’.

Whitefield:

Whitefield is talking about the authority in his journals. “The Lord came down amongst us,” he writes.

Wesley:

The ministry of  Wesley was entirely transformed, after his experience  in the meeting at Aldersgate Hall in London. His heart was ‘strangely warmed’ and from that time he had the authority.

Jonathan Edwards:

The same thing was experienced by Jonathan Edwards.

Dwight L. Moody:

He received the authority when the Holy Spirit came upon him  while he was walking down Wall Street in New York. “He preached the sermons he preached before, but they were transformed.”

A MASTER CRAFTSMAN OF CAR RESTORATION

If you are in Stuttgart in Germany and reading this, you can go to the Daimler Museum in your town and see cars that have been built up from scratch or restored here in Kaitaia in a panel-beater’s shop not far from our house, namely the Austro Daimler and two 1912 Benz cars.

The Austro Daimler was one of the  first cars ever designed by Dr Ferdinand Porsche.

The two 1912 Benz cars were built up from scratch here in Kaitaia by a master craftsman of car restoration. He had to rebuild  them from a photo and the first one took months. The second was much easier of course.

The master craftsman of car restoration is also a brother in Christ and the secretary of the KAITAIA GOSPEL HALL below.

ABUNDANT LIFE CENTRE & CHURCH

Today is  SUNDAY and I went to listen to the WORD OF GOD preached at the Abundant Life Centre and Church.

The ABUNDANT LIFE SCHOOL is part of the Centre  and the students of the school practiced what is preached on a Wednesday not long ago.

The article in the local paper – The Northland Age, Tuesday, September 13, 2011 – said they did that “…, by getting out into the community and lending a hand in all manner of ways.”

They chopped and gathered firewood. They cleaned up older folks’ homes and much more!
