Our chief desire at the moment should be, with the world as it is, and the church as she is, that the glory of God might be manifested amongst us, and before our wondering gaze.” – D Martyn Lloyd – Jones

FOOTBALL WORLD CUP

And yes, I am interested in the Football World Cup and was pleased when I received

A FOOTBALL WORLD CUP SCHEDULE 13TH JUNE – 14TH JULY 2014

when I bought a newspaper today.

On the schedule I am reading:

“Only 8 teams have ever won the Football World Cup: Brazil, Italy, GERMANY, Uruguay, Argentina, England, France and reigning champions Spain.”

BLESSINGS

"Smoking is highly addictive"

“Smoking is highly addictive”

“Count your Blessings,” is written in big letters on an A4 paper and framed.

The frame is standing on a shelf in the room I am working in and when turning my head a bit to the left, I can see the writing now. I don’t think a day goes by when I am not in my “office”. What a reminder to count my blessings. I hope to look every day in a certain direction and read “Count Your Blessings” and count my blessings every day.

Yesterday I picked up a little booklet called “Time to quit.” It is published by The Quit Group (operating as Quit line). It is all about “What you should know about smoking…”

In the booklet I am reading:

“Tobacco companies sell the only consumer product that kills people when used as the manufacturer intends.”

“If you smoke a pack a day, it costs you around $6,000 per year.”

“When you smoke tobacco, you inhale  more than 4000 chemicals.

"Count Your Blessings"

“Count Your Blessings”

These include: Acetone (paint stripper), Ammonia (toilet cleaner), Cyanide (rat killer), DDT (insect killer), Carbon monoxide (car exhaust fumes).

At the end of the information it says, “70 percent of smokers wish they’d never started.”

What a BLESSING that I never started to smoke.

I saved around $6,000 per year. What is 60 years by  $6,000? I think you can buy a house for $360,000.

Maybe I would be dead by now if I would have started smoking from the age of fifteen!

I am glad that I never did. What a BLESSING!

“REVIVAL” by D Martyn Lloyd-Jones

"REVIVAL"

“REVIVAL”

I am still reading the book REVIVAL by D Martyn Lloyd-Jones.

I am greatly interested and I am also blessed. About hundred more pages to go!

FROM THE BOOK:

A pub owner lost his job in the revival a hundred years ago in Northern Ireland. Because there were no customers to be served, he went to the meetings himself to find out what the “nonsense” was all about. He himself became a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and his new job was preaching the GOSPEL.

Accountability

“If all you can see are your credit card expenses, talk to us today.”

That’s what I read yesterday on a big poster inside a Bank here in town, when I looked through the big window.

If all you can see that you are accountable to your creditors, talk to them today.

PEOPLE WITH DEBTS are accountable to their creditors, but

ALL OF US are accountable to God.

The Bible says in Romans 3:19,

“Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.” (NIV)

Another translation says that “the entire world is guilty before God.” (NLT)

All of us are sinners. (Romans 3:23)

Here are some results of SIN:

1. We are dying. Romans 6:23

2. We are lost. Luke 15:24

3. We are condemned. John  3:17

4. We are guilty. Genesis 26:10

If all you can see that you are accountable to God, talk to the Lord Jesus Christ.

“BETTER, BETTER, SAFER”

THE WAREHOUSE LTD says, “Partnering with you for a better environment” and “Partnering with you for a better community”.

“Safer communities together” I see written on Police cars.

What is our problem? What is our real problem?

Our real problem is heart trouble.

This is what the Lord Jesus Christ says:

“‘For from within,

Mark 7:21-23

Intr.:

out of men’s hearts, come

1.  evil thoughts,

"Partnering with you for a better environment"

“Partnering with you for a better environment”

2.  sexual immorality,

3.  theft,

4.  murder,

5.  adultery,

6.  greed,

7.  malice,

8.  deceit,

9.  lewdness,

10.  envy,

11.  slender,

12.  arrogance and

13.  folly.

End:

All these things come from the inside…'”

The BIBLE tells us to “get a new heart and a new spirit”. Ezekiel 18:31

In Ezekiel 36:26 we read the promise: “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you.”
