ONE MORE QUESTION
“WHO MAKES OUR COUNTRY A BETTER PLACE?” is the question and questions are there to be answered.
And I will give you my answer.
The above question is on the flier I picked up today at the Kaitaia Post Office. The leaflet tells us all about “The 2016 New Zealander of the year awards.” “Honouring the Best of Us.”
Who and where are the people who “make a positive difference to the lives of others?”
Six categories are listed:
2016 New Zealander of the year. Young and Senior NZ of the year. NZ community of the year. NZ innovator of the year. NZ local hero of the year.
There are many people who make a positive difference in the lives of other people.
But the people who are really making New Zealand a better place are the people who have their eyes fixed on heaven.
“The positive thinker …”
“WATER IS THE BEST DRINK” – “HE ORA TE WAI”
THE BOOK OF BOOKS tells us about “this water” and in THE BOOK OF BOOKS we are also reading about “the water” the Lord Jesus Christ gives us.
“THIS WATER.”
You don’t need me to tell you that water is a liquid. Plants need water, animals need water, and we humans cannot exist without water. Water is without taste, odour, colour, and it is clear. Water constitutes in impure form, rain, oceans and more. Formula: H2O. And we are told that “Water is the best drink.”
“THE WATER” THE LORD JESUS CHRIST GIVES US.
In the Word of God WATER is frequently symbolical of not only of the Lord’s blessing, but also of spiritual refreshment.
In Ezekiel 47:1-11 Ezekiel has a vision. Unrestricted blessing from the LORD is flowing upon the people of the Lord.
How does Jeremiah describe the LORD in Jeremiah 2:13 and Jeremiah 17:13? He describes the LORD as “the spring of living water”. “The spring of living water” is echoed of the Holy Spirit in John 7:38.
The supreme blessing that the Lord gives is eternal life, and water is connected with eternal life in the New Testament. Please read John 4:14 and Revelation 7:17.
But THE BOOK OF BOOKS says also:
“‘Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him, will never thirst.” – John 4:13,14
Sage Saying
“Embalm a soul in formality, and it will decay.”
Symbols
Illustrating the Word of God using symbols. Here are five:
1. A HAMMER:
“‘Is not my word like fire,’ declares the LORD, ‘and like a hammer that breaks rocks in pieces?'” – Jeremiah 23:29
2. A MIRROR:
“Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.” – James 1:23,24
3. A FIRE:
“But if I say, ‘I will not mention him or speak any more in his name,’ his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones.” – Jeremiah 20:9
4. A LAMP:
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” – Psalm 119:105
5. FOOD:
“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, ….” – First Peter 2:2
