LOS VOM ICH by E. Modersohn

In my library you find a slender volume in German written by Ernst Modersohn. Jacob becomes Israel! We read about it in Genesis chapter 25- 32. I finished reading the book just now.

I don’t feel that about many books, but that is a book I am going to read again soon.

In the book the author asks the question:

WHAT DOES IT ACTUALLY MEAN TO BELIEVE?

He gives the following answers:

1. It means trusting.

2. It means surrender.

3. It means obedience.

4. It means to reckon with the Lord

Some time ago I was  told about a man living north from us who is more than 100 years old and still has his licence to drive a car.

And yes, I would like to meet that man.

Tuesday, January 14, 2014 was a special day for the  BNZ here in Kaitaia. Many ( bank representatives, customers and others) gathered to celebrate the bank’s centennial.

I arrived just in time for the cutting of the BNZ’s centennial cake.

And there was the man who has still his car licence sharing the cake-cutting role with another long-time customer.

The man with the licence is just about to celebrate his 106th birthday.

He is also the oldest person in New Zealand who is still driving!
