The Peace Lily

The PEACE LILY in our living room preaches one or even two sermons:

Someone observed that the plant is leaning towards the LIGHT!

When people observe me as a true follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, do they say, “He is leaning towards the Lord Jesus Christ, the LIGHT OF THE WORLD?” (John 8:12)

Someone also interrupted a meal and left the table to WATER the plant, when its wilting appearance was noticed.

 When people notice me as a true follower of the Lord Jesus Christ on the street, are they meeting a wilted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ or a vibrant one who has been drinking from the LIVING WATER, the Lord Jesus Christ gives?  (John 8:10)

Idols

“Anything becomes an idol when it keeps us away from God:  even the brazen serpent is to be despised as ‘Nehushtan,’ if we worship it instead of God.” C. H. Spurgeon

Throwing Stones!

Throwing Stones!

I like to throw stones. And I like to throw the stones far enough. Continue to read and find out what I am talking about.

Part one:

“WINNING WAYS TO WELLBEING”, I am reading on the postcard  from the Mental Health Foundation of  New Zealand.

The five ways are: Connect, Give, Take Notice, Learn and Be Active.

Under Connect we are encouraged to develop relationships. Why? Because relationships support us and enrich our life. We are encouraged to connect with friends, family, colleagues and neighbours.

I have a relationship with friends, family, colleagues and neighbours.

But I have also a relationship with the LIVING GOD!

I don’t need to say more; you get the point.

Part two:

The slender volume is all about Family Violence. It says that Family Violence is not OK!

The booklet closes with a quote which stresses the importance of having someone to talk to.

Why talk to someone?

The booklet teaches me that talking releases energy and calms down. The message is clear: TALK, talk to someone your trust.

I have never felt a great need to talk to people.

I think the reason is that  I have learned from an early age to talk to the LIVING GOD.

What is talking with Jesus? Talking with Jesus is prayer.

Believe me, I like to throw stones; and I like to throw the stones far enough!

O LORD

8.  Those who pursue us are at our heels;

9.  we are weary and find no rest.

10.  We submitted to Egypt and Assyria to get enough bread.

11.  Our fathers sinned and are no more, and

12.  we bear their punishment.

13.  Slaves rule over us, and

14.  there in no one to free us from their hands.

18.  Women have been ravished in Zion, and

19.  virgins in the towns of Zion.

20.  Princes have been hung up by their hands;

21.  elders are shown no respect.

22.  Young men toil at the millstones;

23.  boys stagger under loads of wood.

24.  The elders are gone from the city gate;

25.  the young men have stopped their music.

26.  Joy is gone from our hearts;

27.  our dancing has turned to mourning.

28.  The crown has fallen from our head.

End:

Woe to us, for we have sinned!”
